Recently I decided to play the new offering from Platinum Play: Wealth Spa. After all, the title intrigued me – who couldn’t do without a luxurious spa … and if it brought wealth, well that would be even better.

The game is a 5 reel video slot; with 20 paylines. The coins range from 0.01 way up to 0.05 and you can play anywhere between 1 and 20 coins per line. For the mathematically challenged that is between 0.01 (smallest coin, 1 line, 1 coin per line) to USD/EUR/GBP 20 (5c coins, 20 lines, 20 coins per line).

 

The game boasts several features not normally seen on standard video slots. Firstly, it has 5 (count em 5) bonus games to choose from; and it gives the player the power to choose which game to play and when. The usual way of gaining entry to these bonus games would be to hit certain combinations. Wealth Spa does things slightly differently. Whenever a Wealth Spa Token lands in the middle spot on reel 5 you get to keep it. Each game then costs a certain number of tokens to trigger; and you click on the top right of the game (cunningly marked “Play Bonus”) to redeem the tokens.

I like that – it gives you a feeling of more power and control over the game.

The bonus games are also quite fun; and go with the whole cartoony feel of the slot. I’ll review each one in order now:

• 1 Token – Smoothie Bonus Game

This is the standard pick-em game. You get to choose 4 fruit, which the smoothie machine combines to produce a drink. The drink gives you a certain number of bonus coins. It’s simple and elegant.

• 2 Tokens – Hot Stones Game

This is a really nice addition to the Video slot arsenal. You get to pick two stones with numbers from 0 to 9 on them. These are placed in random order to give a two digit number from 01 to 99. This is then multiplied by your average bet size to calculate your winnings. Nice! I managed to get a 92x multiplier on my first go.

• 3 Tokens – Body Wax

He he he … This was a surprise. You get a choice of three motions the therapist uses to strip wax from the poor guys body. The louder he screams – the more coins you get. Sick, but funny.

• 4 Tokens – Bath Oil Game

This is a simple little bonus game where you continue picking oils to enhance your nice steam bath. Each vial of oil has a number of coins attached to it, and there is one vial which has a hidden “collect” attached to it. When you pick that one the game ends and you get whatever coins you have accumulated up till them.

• 5 Tokens – Massage Game

An interactive game where you ask the massage therapist to concentrate on certain sections of your body to improve the number of free spins you collect per second of massage. When the game ends you get to play the free spins.

Free Spins – these can only be gained through game number 5; but it is well worth it. All the wins pay on a scatter basis – no paylines!!! The whole background and music changes too – which is a vast improvement. To be honest I would have played this music the entire time. But then that’s me.
